What distinguishes any Rice Development community is how we nurture an active and
engaged lifestyle. Throughout our locations, residents organize a variety of classes,
clubs and events, all of which lead to a more personable environment and a stronger
sense of community.
Of course, it’s one thing to tell you, but perhaps more convincing is to show how
great a lifestyle you can lead when you choose to live in a Rice Development adult
community. Here is what our residents think of their community:
“When we first looked at Wilmot Creek we of course stopped at the sales office for
prices and brochures. While driving across the bridge, we felt an amazing feeling
of being in another world. It was like a private little paradise yet close enough
to shopping, and entertainment to seriously consider moving here. The second time
we came, we were ready to take the next step in our lives. Since moving here in
2002 there’s no way you could talk me into going back to that other life where you
never know your neighbours and are basically just surviving. We have more friends
now and have visited more eating establishments than I knew existed. We call it
our spur of the moment club, when a phone call decides what we will do that day
or even that hour. This is a place where you can do as much or as little as you
like. The facilities available at Wilmot Creek are second to none. What a great
life.”

“I was looking to downsize and live in a safe community. After a few visits to the
sales office and talking with the friendly staff, I decided to purchase a home in
Wilmot Creek. I was very interested in Wilmot Creek because of what it had to offer.
The community here is a community within itself with many social activities and
functions. You can be as busy as you want when you want. The residents are very
welcoming and friendly. As you drive through the security gate there is a sense
of tranquility and beauty. A great place to call home.”

“My wife Darylene and I moved into the Wilmot Creek community in 1997. Like many
other couples we had sold our larger home in Toronto and after a few visits to Wilmot
Creek we decided this was to be our retirement home. The people we met on the visits
were friendly and the sales staff helped us choose the home we still live in, overlooking
the golf course. We have taken advantage of the many amenities offered at Wilmot
Creek and have volunteered here in many ways over the years. We have never regretted
our move to Wilmot Creek, the lifestyle fits us perfectly.”

”My wife Lorraine and I have been residents of Wilmot Creek since Nov. 1999. We
have enjoyed every minute of our time here. We have met some great people at “The
Creek” and have made many new friends. The facilities are excellent and we have
put them to good use. We wanted a home on the golf course and we got one. If we
are not playing golf, we are watching other golfers from our back deck, or taking
part in many of the other activities available in the community.
I have spent several hours in the workshop, and with the three bands that I play
and sing with. I recently started up “Friendly Fridays” where we get together for
a couple of hours every Friday afternoon to chat, dance, or be entertained by one
of the groups in the community, who by the way are very talented.
Lorraine is currently President of The Auxiliary and a few years back started up
a Drama Club which puts on performances every year for the residents. There is nothing
to stop anyone from introducing something new to the community.
For several years before we retired we wondered what we would do when the time came.
When we visited “Wilmot Creek” we thought that it was exactly what we were looking
for. After being here for eight years we know that it is. Our neighbors could not
be more friendly or supportive, always ready with a helping hand, which we feel,
is very important at this time in our lives. We can keep as busy as we want to,
or just take it easy.
To say that Wilmot Creek is a dream come true is not an exaggeration, and I am finding
it difficult to end this piece because I have not even scratched the surface. I
can honestly say that moving here is the best thing that we have done for ourselves.
